Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026. This policy describes how we handle your personal data.

1. Introduction

Hackless ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly — such as your name, email address, and password when you create an account. We also collect usage data automatically, including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, challenge attempts, and timing data. If you sign in via a third-party provider (Google, GitHub), we receive basic profile information from that provider in accordance with their privacy policies.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: (a) provide and operate the Platform, including scoring, leaderboards, and AI analysis; (b) send transactional emails such as account verification and two-factor authentication codes; (c) personalise your experience and improve Platform features; (d) detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents; (e) comply with legal obligations.

4. AI Features & Kernel

When you use the Kernel AI analyst, the content of your messages is processed to generate responses. We do not use your private conversation content to train third-party models without your consent. Conversation history is stored to provide continuity within the Platform and may be reviewed by our team for safety and quality purposes.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with: (a) service providers who assist in operating the Platform (hosting, email delivery, analytics) under data processing agreements; (b) law enforcement or regulatory bodies when required by law; (c) a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with advance notice to you.

6. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We may also use analytics cookies to understand how the Platform is used. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect Platform functionality.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords (scrypt with random salts), and optional two-factor authentication. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to or restrict certain processing; request data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@hackless.dev.

10. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

12. Contact Us

If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us at support@hackless.dev or via the contact page on the Platform.
